About Our Vegetation Control

Jordan Rail delivers complete vegetation control for rail corridors, depots and civil infrastructure sites across Australia - an integrated program of mulching, mowing, tree removal and weed spraying delivered by experienced, rail-accredited crews.

Vegetation along the rail corridor is more than an appearance issue. Overgrowth obscures sight lines and signals, interferes with drainage and track geometry, raises fire risk in hot dry conditions and accelerates asset deterioration. Our programs are built around network requirements, seasonal conditions and agreed treatment cycles, keeping corridors safe, clear and compliant all year round.

We work in live rail environments under possessions and in sanctioned work-on-track arrangements. Hi-rail mulchers, boom mowers, grapple-equipped excavators and spray units operate both on and off track, supported by arborist crews for tree removal and by water carts and support plant where required.

Our hi-rail plant is certified for rail operations across all three Australian gauge networks - broad gauge (1600mm), standard gauge (1435mm) and narrow gauge (1067mm) - so one crew can treat a corridor that changes gauge, in addition to civil sites and off-track locations.

Every job is tracked and reported through JR Matrix, our in-house operations platform. GPS-mapped spray and mulching records, before-and-after photo registers, chemical and dilution logs and daily route summaries give clients full transparency of what was treated, where, when, by whom and with what product.

Our operators hold current RIW registration, rail medicals and plant VOCs, with chemical handling qualifications for spraying crews. Environmental controls - no-spray zones, drift management, spill kits and weather threshold stop-work rules - are applied on every job.

Our Services

Vegetation Mulching

Tracked and hi-rail mulching heads cut back and process scrub, blackberry and woody regrowth in a single pass - clearing sight lines, drain lines and access routes along the corridor.

Hi-rail & tracked mulcher heads
Sight line & signal clearance
Drain line & access track clearing
Woody weed & blackberry control
Mulch left in place - no burn-off
Steep embankment capable

Corridor Mowing

Boom and flail mowing of grass and light growth along fence lines, cess areas and depot grounds, both on and off track - scheduled programs or reactive cuts before fire season and inspections.

Boom & flail mowers
On & off track mowing
Cess & fence line mowing
Depot & compound grounds
Pre-fire-season programs
Scheduled maintenance cycles

Tree Removal

Hi-rail and civil excavators, multicranes and EWPs remove dangerous trees, overhanging limbs and declared weeds inside the corridor - with traffic management and clean-up included.

Hi-rail & civil options
Hi-rail & civil excavators
Multicranes with felling head
EWP for overhead & structure clearance
Felling heads, tree shears, log grabs & grapples
Chip-out & site clean-up

Weed Spraying

Hi-rail and backpack spraying programs targeting broadleaf and grass weeds on ballast, cess, sidings and structures - with selectable boom length and left, right or both-side spray configuration. Larger units feature a fully automated inline chemical mixing system: the operator simply sets the concentration, giving little to no chemical or herbicide contact and making application far safer for the crew.

Hi-rail spray units & spray booms
Adjustable boom length - left, right or both sides
Fully automated inline chemical mixing (larger units)
Set the concentration - little to no herbicide contact
Clean water hose & reel for clean-down and wash-up
Water usage logs & monitoring
Backpack & spot spraying
Ballast, cess & siding treatments
Total & selective weed control
Calibrated application rates
Approved chemical programs

Reporting & GPS Mapping

Every treatment is recorded against its GPS track through JR Matrix. Clients receive mapped coverage, chemical logs, water usage logs and monitoring, photo registers and completion reports for each job and program.
